Our current release Gara037 of Einida Eleven bears the beautiful name "gaining traction". it reminds us of the ritual fire dances of the african steppe.The Fire Dance is a Navaho ceremony that took place in winter, at a time when thunderstorms could still occur, or at a time when death from snake bites was still not completely averted. The ceremony was named after the place where the gods who were worshipped in this ritual live. The fire dance was danced on the ninth day of the ceremony. A corral was erected from evergreen branches. The shaman performed some magic tricks, then the fire dancers, painted with white clay, showed their dance. During the ritual they held torches made of cedar bark in their hands, jumped over and into the fire and touched the co-dancers with the torch. As a protective spell the spectators took charred cedar wood from the fire.
